Grow Your Gifts Meditation- Breaking Through

Happy September!

We are moving into a new season this month and many ways I feel this is a metaphor for where we are going within ourselves.  Walls seem to be crumbling around structures and perceptions.  Suddenly, it feels like there is a huge push to just be who we are!  It sounds simple enough, but so often we get challenged when we really start to step fully into all of the song that is us.  For me, it feels like a testing to keep strengthening the pathways within my psyche.  It is also allowing us to really love and get to know aspects that we have formally repressed.

For me, the Fool archetype has been coming forward.  I have a wonderful book called Awakening the Heroes Within by Carol Pearson.  I’ve done the Heroic Mythic Index many times and consistently I had the highest score for Ruler and Magician and a very low score for Fool.  Feeling foolish or embarrassing myself was pretty close to the worst thing I could imagine when I was younger.  Now, I’m finding this huge itch to laugh more, play more, and to all around just lighten up!  Life is full of things to worry about and my guess is that it always will be.  Yet, the Fool reminds us that we can still laugh at it all and find the joy in the moment.  We can be silly and play and still be okay.  This photo is here to help empower the opening of the walls we have built to keep emotions at bay.  As we open to our own feelings and deeper self, we open to the Divine and a steady stream of love from our own Spirit, a place where we are always safe.

Here is an image taken in Northern Ireland and some tips on how to use it to empower yourself:

"I am breaking through my walls of fears to discover the wonder of my true self."

“I am breaking through the walls of my fears to discover the wonder of my true self.”

How to Work with the Image to Support the Process

  • Take a moment to center yourself.  Close your eyes and breathe in and out slowly three times.  Let your exhale be longer than your inhale.
  • Open your eyes and focus on the image.  Ask your Spiritual Support Team to help you come into harmonic resonance with the image and to receive the amount of energy from the essence of the place for your highest and best good.
  • Use your imagination to put yourself in the photo.  Use all your senses to interact with what is shown.  What do you feel, see, hear, smell, taste and touch as you connect?
  • Ask for Divine guidance on how you can incorporate the gifts from this essence into your own life and situation.  Allow yourself to feel the love and support flowing to you and through you from the Earth and the Divine.
  • Repeat the affirmation (see caption) as you breathe in and out slowly.
  • Be open to any additional thoughts, sounds, smells, or images that come to you as you are working with the photo.  Consider these as messages to support you on your path.  Ask what these impressions mean to you.  What do they make you think or feel?
  • Continue to recall the image throughout the day when you wish to bring in the energy it provides.
  • Express your gratitude for the gifts given to you through the experience.

Love to you all!

Morning Musing – Guidance for Your Day (whatever day you come upon it!)

Happy Valentine’s Day! I thought it would be helpful to get a little guidance for the day ahead. I hope you find it helpful! Love to you all! Nancy

The Vision…
I am looking at a red rose from the top of the flower. The petals make curved patterns of light and dark. I am drawn to the shaded parts of the petals. There the deep red becomes almost black. I feel myself melting into one such place. I’m hidden in its folds and feel a gentle feeling of peace.

The Reflection…
Roses are such interesting symbols. They have thorns while at the same time having such a lovely scent and beautiful petals. We are like that aren’t we? Lovely and prickly depending on our mood. When I imagine myself as the flower, I feel myself as the dark, still spaces and also as the bright light-filled quality as well. Sometimes, I am more drawn to one aspect or the other. Both, though, are always present.

The Intention…
Today, I will let myself rest in the hidden parts of myself, allowing their quietness to fill me with peace. Today, I will remember to love all of me, even the thorns.

I pray it is so, and so it is…

Discovering Your “Promised Land”

Happy New Year!

2013 is now officially over and for many of us it was a deeply transformational year. As the new calendar year begins, I asked for some insights about the year ahead. What I heard intuitively was that this year I should focus on finding my own “promised land” and then help others to find what this means for them. Moses and the story of the trip through the desert is something that has offered great insights metaphorically for me, as I have changed and grown these last few years. What if we are actually approaching the time when we step out of the desert into a new land? What does this new landscape look like for you? What does it look like for me?

It occurs to me that rather than being a place we create, that it is instead a matter of discovering what is already here. It feels to me we are learning to expand our awareness, finding the deeply beautiful when we look beyond the narrow view of our ego and connect with our soul’s perspective. I had a simple example of this yesterday. I tend to get cold easily and as I was falling asleep last night I found myself wishing to just feel comfortably warm for a change. I found myself looking back over the day and being gently offered all the moments where I did feel this warmth. A heated seat in the vehicle I was riding in, an infrared heater overhead at the restaurant I was eating at, warm fleece pants, soft slippers, and cozy wool socks and the warmth of the water as I washed dishes. All of these little moments were filled with that glorious warm feeling and I had experienced many of them during the day. What if it is this simple? What if, instead of trying to find what we are seeking this year, we just need to notice that it is already here?

On that note, I want to share a passage from one of my all time favorite books – The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran.

“The veil that clouds your eyes shall be lifted by the hands that wove it, And the clay that fills your ears shall be pierced by those fingers that kneaded it. And you shall see. And you shall hear. Yet you shall not deplore having known blindness, nor regret having been deaf.”

This year, I invite you all to join me in looking at our lives, our loved ones, and ourselves through the eyes of love. As we allow the fear “veil” to lift, perhaps we will find that we are already home – that in truth, we have always had the “promised land” within.

Wishing you all a beautiful New Year’s Day and a very happy, abundant 2014!

With love,
Nancy

Love Yourself Whole

What if you loved yourself so much that you never chose to think, say or do anything that wasn’t for your highest and best good?  What if your loved ones chose the same thing?  What would our world look like then?

I find it interesting that when I ponder these questions, I sense an unease in me.  Wouldn’t that mean that people would be selfish and only caring for themselves?  This question points to the problem for our human collective.  We have it built into the collective unconscious that loving oneself isn’t good for others.

Is that true though?

If I love myself and only do that which is highest and best for me, isn’t that also highest and best for you?  When we are in a state of love, we are connected to the highest version of ourselves.  We are connected to the Divine and the vibrational resonance where energy flows easily through our being.  We are in balance.  So how can my being in the state of love in regards to my own well-being be anything but a good thing for others?

It can’t be.

I’m making a new promise to myself, starting right now.  It is my intention to love myself unconditionally and choose only that which is for my highest and best good.  That means choosing to eat what my body really needs, instead of listening to the millions of opinions about what that should be.  It means I choose to maintain my boundaries, so I only give when I am able to do in a healthy way.  It means I choose to sleep when I’m tired, exercise regularly to keep my body strong, spend time in nature every day, and connect with others in ways that are nurturing to me. I choose to listen to myself, trust myself, and love myself whole.

I invite you to take this pledge with me today.  Together, let’s show our children and our world that love really is the answer to every question.  Let’s show them, by showing ourselves, what it is like to live a life where we feel truly loved, not only by others and by the Divine, but by ourselves.

Wishing you abundant blessings!

Shifting to the Higher Mind

Have you been finding it difficult to keep a positive frame of mind?  If so, you aren’t alone. As we are now in a period where we are no longer able to hold on to false identities or beliefs about ourselves, there is an increasing pressure to choose a higher point of view.  Below are a few things I am finding helpful. I hope they help you too!

Smile:  Simple, I know, but it really works!  I was having a challenging day last week and I went for a walk.  I made a commitment to myself to keep smiling through the whole walk, even though I felt no interest in doing so.  After the walk was complete, my mood had totally changed!  So now when I start to worry, I encourage myself to smile. It seems impossible to worry and smile at the same time!

Shift your focus:  It occurred to me that when I feel something physically off, I always think I am repressing an emotion.  I immediately begin searching the negative feelings that could be stored there.  Then it occurred to me, perhaps I should shift my focus.  What positive emotion is being repressed?  Instead of sadness, I connect with joy. Instead of anger, I connect with inner peace.  I am finding that this works to relieve the symptom more quickly than trying to bring up the negative emotion.

Rephrase things:  I have started using a new phrase with myself and my loved ones.  Typically, when I find myself worrying, I feel afraid I will be unable to handle my emotional reaction to the situation that is concerning me (for those of us who are empathic/highly sensitive, emotions can sometimes be overwhelming).  Lately, I have started rephrasing this.  For example I say to myself, “I can handle the emotions I am feeling right now with ease.  My emotions are here to help me and I process them with ease.”  I also use this with my loved ones, reminding myself that they can handle whatever it is they are choosing to learn at this time.  When I rephrase my thoughts to see the other person and myself as capable, I find my anxiety leaves.

I believe we are in the process of retraining our brain to work from the frontal lobes (love centered thinking) instead of the back of the brain (fear based thinking).  As we consciously choose to come from love, we strengthen this shift.  With practice, I believe it will be easier and easier to stay in a positive frame of mind.

Wishing you a beautiful, loved-centered day!

Grow Your Gifts Meditation – Trust

I trust the hand that reaches out to me is loving and kind. I am cared for as the gentle, loving creature that I am.

I trust the hand that reaches out to me is loving and kind. I am cared for as the gentle, loving creature that I am.

I took this picture at a butterfly exhibit at Stan Hywet Hall in Akron, Ohio. The hand in the picture is my niece, Caitlyn. She and her brother spent a good hour convincing the butterflies to be held. They were both surprisingly gentle and patient with the creatures and rewarded by lots of close contact with them. The butterflies were gifted with sugar-water and lots of love and admiration! Something to think about as we interact with others today.

Grow Your Gifts Meditation – Embracing Shadows

My shadows hold no fear for me now. I embrace the shades within me, as I embrace that which is visible. I love and I am free.

My shadows hold no fear for me now. I embrace the shades within me, as I embrace that which is visible. I love and I am free.

I worked with this image while listening to the music by Gabriel Masterson on his album Mother Earth Rising.  The haunting and beautiful Native American flute music created in Sedona feels so in sync with the energy of this image.  Both speak to me of the haunting beauty of the shadows within the scope of the light.  When I connect with this image, I am reminded that my emotions often reflect a distorted image of what is.  Remembering that there are aspects of myself and what I perceive that are easily visible and also parts that are hidden invite me to be more gentle with myself and those around me.  Remembering there is nothing to fear in the shadows makes it easier to embrace them.

Grow Your Gifts Meditation – Self-Reflection

I see and love every part of me. I am authentically me in all that I think, say and do.

I see and love every part of me. I express my true self in all that I do.

I share this today to provide us all with support as we continue to become more whole.  I know many of my clients (and me too!) are having a lot of intense dreaming right now.  Sometimes what is going on at the subconscious level is difficult to connect with.  This meditation will support you in seeing your whole self more clearly.  As we look with love and clarity, we can accept all of who we are without judgment.  Heron medicine is excellent for this as is the beautiful clear water and blue sky.  Below are some simple instructions to support you in your work with this image.

How to Work with the Image

  1. Take a moment to center yourself.  Close your eyes and breathe in and out slowly three times.  Let your exhale be longer than your inhale.
  2. Open your eyes and focus on the image.  Ask your Spiritual Support Team to help you come into harmonic resonance with the image and to receive the amount of energy from the essence of the place for your highest and best good.

Grow Your Gifts Meditation – Self-Love

I am deeply loved, supported and safe.  My loved ones are Divinely cared for.  All is well.

My stepson Isaac lives in Boston.  We had a tense hour watching the coverage of the Boston Marathon bombing yesterday before we got a text from him assuring us that he was safe.  Many families didn’t get that text.  I’m sharing this image today of a statue at Middleton Place in South Carolina because I feel like we could all use a hug and some self-love.   Below are some suggestions on how to work with this image.  This statue is in a sheltered garden surrounded by azaleas.  It was a beautiful, warm sunny day when the photo was taken.

How to Work with the Image

Take a moment to center yourself.  Close your eyes and breathe in and out slowly three times.  Let your exhale be longer than your inhale.

Open your eyes and focus on the image.  Ask your Spiritual Support Team to help you come into harmonic resonance with the image and to receive the amount of energy from the essence of the place for your highest and best good.

Try copying the physical posture of the statue as you focus on the image.  Feel the love for yourself comforting and supporting you.

Use your imagination to put yourself in the photo.  Use all your senses to interact with what is shown.  What do you feel, see, hear, smell, taste and touch as you connect?

Ask for Divine guidance on how you can incorporate the gifts from this essence into your own life and situation.  Allow yourself to feel the love and support flowing to you and through you from the Earth and the Divine.

Repeat the affirmation (see caption) as you breathe in and out slowly.

Be open to any additional thoughts, sounds, smells, or images that come to you as you are working with the photo.  Consider these as messages to support you on your path.  Ask what these impressions mean to you.  What do they make you think or feel?

Continue to recall the image throughout the day when you wish to bring in the energy it provides.

Express your gratitude for the gifts given to you through the experience.

With love to all,

Nancy
